Latest Updates from Our Project:

Classes Abilities, EXP, AP and Injuries
over 6 years ago – Mon, Oct 02, 2017 at 01:48:11 PM

We've had a good start to the campaign and we're now over 25% funded. A big thank you to all our supporters!

As promised, here's a lot more details about class skills:

Class Abilities

As we mentioned in the last update, every class can learn 7+ active abilities, 2 passive abilities and 1 counter ability.

When you learn an active ability on any class, it will become available to use in combat, as long as you're currently using that class or using it as a subclass.

When you learn a passive ability on your primary class, it will automatically activate as long as you're using that class.

You can also equip up to 2 passive abilities from any of the passive abilities you currently know, giving you a maximum of 4 passives abilities equipped at once. This makes for a lot of exciting and potent combinations for you to experiment with!

This Mercenary class unit has 2 class passives, 2 equipped passives and a powerful counter attack! It chose Wizard for its subclass, obtaining the Wizard's versatile and long-ranged Elementalism abilities.

Lastly, you can equip a counter ability from any that you currently know. Counter abilities trigger under various conditions, such as taking damage, dying, going into critical HP condition, etc. and have varied and powerful effects. Some will add negative statuses to your attacker, positive statuses to yourself, damage your attacker or even teleport them away from you!

Selecting a counter from a large list of possibilities.

Setting up which abilities and passive abilities your units can use is going to be a big part of managing your army and become the cornerstone of your more creative strategies. The possibilities are countless and really up to your imagination!

Character growth: EXP and AP

The game uses a fairly traditional EXP and AP system to fuel the growth of your characters, but with a few twists.

EXP

Every unit has a character level. That level represents their overall power. A higher level means higher stats, HP and MP (we'll go over all the stats in another update!). Characters earn new levels by gaining EXP and EXP is earned while in battle, for every action you take.

AP

AP is the currency with which you learn new skills for a particular class. You have a different count of AP for every single class you know and will be able to spend that class's AP towards that class's abilities only. AP is earned from being victorious in combat and you will earn more of it for more difficult encounters. When you earn AP at the end of a battle, the units that participated will earn a lot of AP, but everyone else in your army (even your benched units) will earn a portion of those gains, giving them a chance not to fall behind.

Injuries

When a character falls in combat, instead of being permanently lost, they instead incur an Injury. An injury will lower all the stats of a unit until they rest. Resting involves not participating during a battle (being benched).

This makes it so having characters fall during combat is punishing, but not necessarily game-ending. It also gives you a good reason to grow and nurture more than 6 characters (the maximum you can deploy in combat), as you'll want extra hands around while your injured units are resting.

Once again, we want to thank the fan for all the support and we hope you're enjoying the weekend! :)

Class details & over 20% funded!
over 6 years ago – Sat, Sep 30, 2017 at 09:49:57 AM

Wow, we had a great day yesterday! We had a solid influx of support from the fans! Specifically, the imgur community really showed some incredible support and we turned what is usually "the dreaded and slow 3rd day" for campaigns into a really good day and went right past the 20% mark! We also got our first taker for the Arbiter Creator tier and we can't wait to work with them to design an epic special encounter that'll be added to the game!

Again, a very big THANK YOU to all the fans for the awesome support!

Now, onto exciting updates content!

Classes, so many classes!

We have over 20 core classes in the game and 6 secret classes (and a lot of monsters too!)! We won't go over the secret classes for now, as even listing their names would probably be a major spoiler, but here are the basic ones (really, really long wall of classes incoming!):

(It might be a little hard to read all the classes in that row. They are also listed on our website is a more compact way if desired: https://www.fellseal.com/classes)

Obviously, that's a lot of classes to digest at once, so they unlock gradually in the game, as to not be overwhelming. As you learn abilities from classes you already know, it will unlock new classes. Here's a sneak peak at our design board while we were creating all the class unlocking requirements:

Convoluted madness!

Every class learns 2 passive abilities, 1 counter ability and 7+ active abilities. Some classes have a few more abilities (usually casters that tend to have multiple elements or the very special Gadgeteer class). We'll be covering the class abilities, passives and counters more in depth in the next update, so stay tuned!

Social Goals

We actually haven't unlocked any social goals yet, although we're very close to unlocking at least 4 of them! Unlocking 4 will unlock "Expressions for Dialogue Portraits" (like smiling, angry, etc) and we're very excited about that goal, because it will really let the dialogues shine even more! There are other awesome social rewards coming after that one, so keep an eye out for the Social Goals and help if you can!

Even though it's a bit early during the day, we want to wish everyone a great weekend and again say a big thank you for everyone's great support!

In closing, we'd be remiss if we didn't point out this great looking turn-based strategy-survival game also on Kickstarter: Thea 2: The Shattering

They are already 85% funded with 17 days left and are looking great!

It's not their first rodeo either: this is the much anticipated sequel to their popular Thea: The Awakening game, which is already up on Steam, garnering a solid 90% positive reviews! Check it out!

Thank you! Over 12% Funded in 24hrs! Socials Goals and Reiner Sprite!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Sep 27, 2017 at 05:40:48 PM

It's been 24 hours since the campaign went live and we're looking at about 13% funding already! That's a great start! We're also very excited to report that we're sitting comfortably on the first page of the most popular games category and it's all thanks to your support: thank you very much everyone!

Now, a few quick announcements!

First, we now have the sprite for our 3rd main character ready. Here is Reiner's basic sprite:

Reiner's sprite is now ready!

We'd also like to highlight our Social Goals board for anyone that might have overlooked them. Social Goals are another way for the fans to help with making Fell Seal a reality. By retweeting, sharing, liking and following us on social media, you can help us reach more people and get them excited about tactical goodness!

For every Social Goal that is reached, we'll add a token on the board and once there are enough tokens, we'll add extra content to the game as a "thank you"!

Here's what the rewards look like:

We'll run a poll at the end of the campaign to let the fans decide on the design for the accessories, hat, outfits and the new class!
We'll run a poll at the end of the campaign to let the fans decide on the design for the accessories, hat, outfits and the new class!

So, there'll be a reward once 4 goals have been reached, 6 goals, 8 goals, etc.

Social Medias are vital to getting the word out about the project, but there's only so much we can do by ourselves. But with your help, we can do this! The more successful the social goals, the more rewards we'll be able to deliver, so everyone wins :)
