BackerKit surveys on their way!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 15, 2017 at 07:47:36 PM

Hello everyone. First, we want to mention that Kickstarter just wrapped up the final approval process for the campaign, so we're finally ready to send the Backer surveys via BackerKit. We're just finalizing the surveys with the help of the folks at BackerKit and they should be on their way within a day or two!

All the information is in the survey, but we wanted to add it here as well for extra clarity: if you have any design or portrait tiers, Discord is going to be the spot to be giving us your ideas and information (including portrait images)!

There's a whole section on there devoted to to your tier, with extra information, map previews, etc. If somehow you can't get access to our Discord (right here!), just let us know on Kickstarter and we'll work something out.

Game Progress

We've had a lot of post-campaign work to wrap up and took a few days off to recuperate aftewards, but we've since resumed work on Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark. On the engineering side, I've been focusing on cleaning bugs that were found during the Kickstarter, as well as integrating some of the feedback we've gotten during the campaign. We have improvements centered around input (mouse, keyboard and gamepad) and key remapping in the works right now primarily. Thanks again to everyone that brought issues and feedback to our attention!

On the art side, we've been working on some new assets. We have a bunch of new spells in the works, the basic sprite for the Blardger we showed on stream before, as well as the basic sprite for our first boss monster.

This is just a sneak peak for our Boss monster as we don't want to have any spoilers!

Starting next month, updates are going to be Backers only moving forward and we're planning a monthly progress update!

Thanks again!

BackerKit pre-order page ready!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 01, 2017 at 06:32:23 PM

Just a quick update to mention our BackerKit pre-order page is ready and now linked to our Kickstarter page, for anyone that might have missed the Kickstarter but still wanted to support the development of the game!

This isn't the same as the Backer Surveys that will be going out in a little less than 2 weeks! We'll announce those as soon as they're ready to go (we're waiting on the Kickstarter internal process at this point, which is supposed to take around 2 weeks).

Thanks again everyone!

Officially Funded! Thank you!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 31, 2017 at 02:55:40 PM

This has been an intense experience for our team and a crazy 34 days! Honestly, things got a little close to the wire right before the last 48 hours of the campaign, but the incredible show of support from everyone really brought it together in the end!

We're very happy and proud to report that not only did we get officially funded, but we also managed to snag a stretch goal along the way! On top of being able to add all the content we have planned for Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark, we'll also be able to get the exciting Bzil race in and keep working with our awesome artists for increased quality!

We're incredibly happy to have nearly 1200 backers on this adventure with us, and we look forward to growing this great community and improving the game with everyone's feedback!

On behalf of both myself and our artist, a huge thank you to everyone!

Social Goals

Thanks to everyone's help, we got 9 social goals in, securing expressions for dialogue portraits, a new accessory and a new hat!

We came very close to unlocking the next reward, another special class, and we know a lot of backers were extremely excited about that and tried their very best to make it happen! We're not making any promises, but during the next 2 weeks, as we prepare our BackerKit page for a smooth experience with the rewards selection process, we'll be looking at what we can do to squeeze in that one last extra special class in. Hopefully we're not being overly ambitious, but we think we'll be able to manage it and honestly, we're just as excited about getting another special class in ourselves!

Post-Campaign Plans

Backer Surveys

We'll be sending the backer survey for everyone to pick their exact rewards in about 2 weeks from now, through BackerKit. You'll be able to select your platform, tell us exactly which add-on you pledged for and even select new add-ons if you now want something extra. We'll also be collecting the name you want shown in the credits section. Higher tiers will have additional questions and instructions for their special rewards and we'll have more information on that a bit later. Lastly, we'll send an additional survey right before release if we end up adding any extra platforms (which we're still hoping will happen, at least for PS4), so you can switch to a new one if you want.

The Discord server is already available as well and we welcome all backers to join it. The special Beta Backers portion of the server will be finalized after the surveys are sent.

Late Backing Period

For those who missed out, we will be continuing to accept pledges through BackerKit for a bit (probably until we launch the Beta access version). We'll keep the same reward tiers, minus any of the limited tiers (so, up to and including the $60 tier) and add-ons that were offered on Kickstarter.

The funds will continue to build towards unlocking the next stretch goal so it will still be possible to unlock the Hard Mode option, which would be really awesome since we think a lot of fans are going to enjoy having that kind of difficulty level added to the game!

We expect that the BackerKit pre-order store should be ready within just a few days and we'll post an update here as soon as it is!

So, what's next?

The Kickstarter was an incredibly intense experience and, quite frankly, has left us very very tired ^^. We're going to be wrapping up our BackerKit setup in the coming days, then taking a couple days off to fix our sleeping schedule and resume a more 'normal' life style.

After that, we'll be right back to business as usual and we're going to start working on getting the Beta Backers build ready ASAP. Then as soon as the Kickstarter processing phase is done, we'll move right ahead with the survey and then back to working on the game and creating all those awesome portraits for the Portrayer and above tiers!

Updates

Our current plan is to have a monthly Kickstarter update for backers, on top of our usual weekly update on our website. Feel free to let us know if you'd like more frequent updates, although it might be simpler to just check out our website or follow us on twitter/facebook at that point!

Steam

Lastly, for anyone that haven't backed us, but are interested in the game upon release, feel free to wishlist us on our Steam page to keep tabs on us!

Thank you!

Thank you so very much to everyone! We couldn't have done it without all the help and support and we hope we'll be seeing you on Discord! :)

Lastly, we have a final shout-out to mention! If you haven't checked them out yet, you might want to give a look at Lonely Mountains Downhill. It's not tactical and it's not an RPG, but it's pretty awesome! Create your own path down pristine mountains in a fast-paced arcade-style kick game!

They're already 75% funded with 16 days left! Check out their great Kickstarter right here!

100% Funded, 28hrs to go! Showcasing 1st Stretch Goal
over 6 years ago – Sun, Oct 29, 2017 at 10:36:24 PM

We made it, everyone! We're now past 100% funded and still have a good 28hrs to go!

Yesterday was an incredible day, thanks so much for the overwhelming support! We're incredibly grateful and humbled by how much everyone rallied to make this happen!

We now have our first Legendary Arbiter tier backer and we are very excited and eager to work with them at creating a custom boss monster, a new human class and a special encounter! This is going to be amazing!

We also got our 1000th backer, which cleared one more Social Goal!

Now we just need 1 more social goal to unlock the next reward, a new special class!

1st Stretch Goal - Bzil race!

With still 28 hours to go, we want to highlight our first Stretch goal, which is in the one we've always been the most excited about ourselves: the Bzil race!

The Bzil is a special race of monster that can join your party. They don't have access to the regular classes, but instead they can learn abilities from the monsters of the world (which all have their own unique set of abilities) and mix and match them for some truly special combinations. They will be using a similar setup as the humans in terms of having 2 sets of abilities, some passives and a counter ability, but they will instead be using those provided by the monster classes they have acquired.

Our artist has always been very excited about the Bzil (she LOVES monsters!) and has had their base design ready pretty much from the start of the project, 2 years ago:

On top of using monster abilities, the Bzil will also take on the partial shape of the monster they've absorbed, giving you an idea at a glance of what they might be capable of:

With about 28 hours left and the great pace we've been setting in these last 48 hours, we think we have a real chance at making the Bzil race happen!

Thanks again everyone! :)

Another great project

We want to give a shout-out to our friends at Stoic Studio and their incredible work on their series, The Banner Saga. Specifically, to The Banner Saga 3, the conclusion to the award-winning epic!

In a nutshell, The Banner Saga 3 is a turn-based strategy/RPG game, with a focus on storytelling and Viking lore. Sounds pretty awesome right? That's because it IS ^^

Their Kickstarter campaign might have ended already (very successfully, with over 200% funding!), but you can still secure a copy with late backing, right HERE!

Last 48 Hours Hustle & Awesome Fan Art
over 6 years ago – Sat, Oct 28, 2017 at 07:04:26 PM

We've just entered the last 48 hours of the campaign and we're 81% funded. While it's not going to be a walk in the park, it's definitely doable with everyone's support!

Any last minute shout-outs you can give us on social media or to your friends is going to go a long way! We just had a very big Thunderclap and we're hoping it'll help us reach the finish line in these last 48 hours :)

We've also created an imgur post showing our new idle animations and highlighting that it's our last 48 hours. We would be incredibly grateful if you could go there and upvote it: the imgur community has been really great to our project and we want to make sure this post can go viral like our first one did! Again, with your help, we can definitely do it! :)

Imgur post: Check it out here!

Fan Art

We'd like to give a shout-out to Nyanamo, who made some awesome fan art of our Vangal on twitter:

You can check out their work HERE!

Another Awesome Project!

Today's project has already gone successfully through its own Kickstarter and ended up over 200% funded! You might have heard of it already, it's the incredibly awesome looking dark Tactical RPG The Iron Oath.

Their Kickstarter might be over, but don't despair, you can still secure a copy of their great game on their BackerKit page, right HERE!
